Signs Your Brakes Need To Be Replaced:

  • If you hear a high-pitched squeaking sign when you apply pressure to the brakes, this is coming from a wear indicator, which purposefully lets you know that the brakes are worn.
  • If it's taking longer than it used to bring your vehicle to a stop, then either the brake pads are worn or there is an issue with the hydraulic system.
  • Feeling vibrations when you press on the brakes suggests your rotor is warped. Warped rotors cause the brake pads to skip along the surface of the rotor, which causes faulty braking and vibrations in the pedal.

How Do I Know if I Need New Brake Pads and Rotors?

  • You can normally see your brake pads through your wheels. You should be able to see how much thickness there is left on the pad. At least one ¼ inch of brake pad needs to be visible. If there appears to be less, it’s time to get them replaced.
  • The new brake pad should typically measure between 12/32” - 14/32”, depending on the vehicle.
