We’ve touched upon how to defog your windshield in the past, but our service center near Boardman is here to bring a more detailed, comprehensive guide to defog your windows and windshield effectively in two different types of weather.

Defog Car in Warm Weather

Humidity can be incredibly uncomfortable, and may fog up your car windows a great deal. If you’re looking to defog your car’s glass as soon as possible, the goal is to change the temperature on the inside of the car to match the outside temperature:

  • Use windshield wipers to get rid of the condensation while the temperature balances out
  • Turn the air conditioning down to the lowest, or least-cool setting (This increases the temperature without it becoming too uncomfortable)
    • If this does not work, turn the air conditioning off
  • Finally, leave the recirculation setting off – temperature and moisture levels in your car begin to equalize when incorporating outside air

Defog Car in Cold Weather

When the weather outside is colder than the environment in your car, you may be cranking the heat up. This may cause fog to form on the inside of your windows, but you can defog your car quickly by doing the following:

  • Turn the heat on its maximum setting since hot air holds more moisture
  • Turn the AC on which then pulls the moisture from the air as it passes over the cooling coils
  • Turn off the recirculation button so colder and drier air enters into the car
  • Open your windows slightly for a couple of minutes to help exchange the humid interior air for drier air from outside the car
